San Diego, Calif. - Craning sea lions onto specialized release boat. Two cleaned and rehabilitated California Sea Lions were released by boat off shore of San Diego on Aug. 7, 2015. A total of nine Calif. Sea lions, collected during the Refugio Oil Spill Response, have been released so far: three on July 17, three on July 24; one on July 31, and two August 7. Sixteen marine mammals remain in care.   The Refugio Response began after pipeline 901 leaked oil may 19, 2015 onto Refugio State Beach, Santa Barbara, Calif.
